Cooler evenings, golden light, and a table filled with something delicious—fall has its own way of inviting us to slow down.
Whether you’re coming home from a coastal walk, gathering after a round of golf, or settling in with friends on a crisp afternoon, a few seasonal bites can turn the end of the day into the best part.
These five fall snacks from our Golden Hour, Served Instagram collection bring together apples, maple, pumpkin, and plenty of melted cheese. Choose one for a quiet evening or serve a few together for an easy autumn spread.
1. Warm Brie with Apple Butter
Creamy brie, spiced apple butter, and a little pecan crunch make this an inviting centerpiece for your snack board. Set it out warm and let everyone help themselves.
Ingredients
-
One 8 oz wheel of brie
-
⅓ cup apple butter
-
1 tablespoon chopped pecans
-
Crackers and sliced pears, for serving
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F.
-
Place the brie in a small baking dish and bake for 12–15 minutes, until soft.
-
Spoon the apple butter over the warm brie and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
-
Serve immediately with crackers and sliced pears.
Après tip: Bake the brie in a dish you can bring straight to the table. Add the pears and crackers just before serving.
2. Maple-Roasted Mixed Nuts
Sweet maple syrup, fragrant rosemary, and flaky salt give this snack just the right balance. Make a batch ahead of time and set out small bowls wherever your guests gather.
Ingredients
-
3 cups mixed unsalted nuts
-
3 tablespoons maple syrup
-
1 tablespoon melted butter
-
1 teaspoon finely chopped rosemary
-
½ teaspoon flaky salt
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 325°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Toss the nuts with the maple syrup, melted butter, and rosemary.
-
Spread them in an even layer on the prepared pan.
-
Bake for 18–22 minutes, stirring halfway through. Watch closely toward the end so the nuts don’t burn.
-
Sprinkle with flaky salt and let cool completely. They’ll crisp as they sit.
Après tip: Once cool, gently break apart any clusters and keep the nuts in an airtight container until you’re ready to serve.
3. Mini Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup Shooters
A little comfort food goes a long way. Mini grilled cheese triangles paired with small cups of tomato soup are a cozy addition to a porch gathering or casual night in.
Ingredients
-
8 slices sandwich bread
-
6 oz sliced cheddar
-
Softened butter
-
3 cups prepared tomato soup
-
Fresh basil, for garnish
Instructions
-
Assemble four sandwiches, dividing the cheddar between them.
-
Spread softened butter on the outside of each sandwich.
-
Cook in a skillet over medium-low heat until both sides are golden and the cheese has melted.
-
Cut each sandwich into four small triangles.
-
Warm the tomato soup and pour it into small, heat-safe cups.
-
Garnish with basil and serve with one or two grilled cheese triangles alongside each cup.
Après tip: Have the soup warmed and the cups ready before cooking the sandwiches, so everything reaches the table warm.
4. Baked Apple & Cheddar Crostini
Crisp apple and sharp cheddar are a fall pairing worth returning to. Add toasted baguette, a drizzle of honey, and fresh thyme for a bite that feels special with very little effort.
Ingredients
-
One baguette
-
1 apple, thinly sliced
-
4 oz sharp cheddar, thinly sliced
-
1 tablespoon olive oil
-
Honey, for drizzling
-
A few fresh thyme leaves
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
-
Cut the baguette into ½-inch slices and arrange them on a baking sheet.
-
Brush lightly with olive oil and toast for 6 minutes.
-
Top each slice with apple and cheddar.
-
Return to the oven for 5–7 minutes, until the cheese melts.
-
Finish with a light drizzle of honey and a few thyme leaves.
Après tip: Leave the apple peel on for a little color, and slice the apple thinly so it softens during baking.
5. Pumpkin Hummus
Pumpkin brings a seasonal twist to classic hummus, while lemon, garlic, and cumin keep it savory. It’s an easy addition to the table alongside the warmer, richer bites.
Ingredients
-
One 15 oz can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
-
½ cup plain pumpkin purée
-
¼ cup tahini
-
2 tablespoons lemon juice
-
1 small garlic clove
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
½ teaspoon cumin
-
Salt, to taste
-
Cold water, as needed
-
Pumpkin seeds, for topping
-
Pita chips and vegetables, for serving
Instructions
-
Add the chickpeas, pumpkin purée, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, cumin, and salt to a food processor.
-
Blend until smooth, adding cold water a tablespoon at a time until you reach your preferred consistency.
-
Taste and adjust the salt and lemon juice.
-
Spoon into a serving bowl, top with pumpkin seeds, and serve with pita chips and vegetables.
Après tip: Use plain pumpkin purée, not pumpkin pie filling. For an easy serving platter, surround the bowl with carrots, cucumber slices, and colorful bell pepper strips.
Set the Table for Fall Après
You don’t need to make all five recipes to create a welcoming spread. Start with warm brie or apple-cheddar crostini, add a bowl of maple-roasted nuts, and bring out pumpkin hummus with vegetables for a little variety.
Pair your bites with an Apple Cider Bourbon, Maple Pear Spritz, or Maple Espresso Martini—or one of the mocktail substitutions in our fall drinks post.
Then pull up a chair, pour something you love, and enjoy the slower side of the season.
Good company. A few delicious bites. Après, all ways.
